המחלקה לטכנולוגיה לשיקום ותפקוד עצמאי בוחנת טכנולוגיות שונות המשמשות לשיקום, הן בבית החולים והן בבית, כדי לקדם תפקוד עצמאי בילדים ובני נוער.

בנוסף לטכנולוגיות, הצוות מעריך פרוטוקולים קליניים והערכות כדי לסייע בפיתוח ארגז כלים מקיף ומבוסס ראיות לשימוש מטפלים בתחום הדינמי של שיקום ילדים. הם משתפים פעולה עם בעלי עניין מרכזיים – כולל יזמים, אנשי מקצועות הבריאות, ילדים ובני משפחותיהם – כדי להעריך את היעילות של פתרונות שונים.

במקרים רבים משתמשים בגישת תכנון משתף כדי לזהות ולפתח את הטכנולוגיות המועילות ביותר. אפשרויות המקדמות עצמאות בישיבה וניידות, ניידות ממונעת, הערכות חדשות ופרוטוקולים חדשים, הפעלה קולית, רובוטיקה של הגפיים העליונות וציוד שיקום מבוסס משחוק הם רק כמה דוגמאות לטכנולוגיות שתחום זה מכסה.
